Ray I do not have any more info on the SG. My friend is working that 1/2 of the deal. Will post when he is at that point.

Congrats Oz! That is a great find and although my 42 GPW is not finished (but nearing completion), I have already started to look for my next project.

Thanks. It's always nice to have the next one lined up. I recall waiting a few years and ended working on a WC12 which was fun but not my passion.

Sometimes the fun is in the search.

That's a beautiful start for a project! I wish I found stuff in that good of condition!

As far as lining up the next project....that's never been a problem for me. My problem is that I lined up all my projects before I was able to work on them! I had to buy a bigger lot and build a shop! Now that I'm retired I'm finally enjoying one that I bought 30 years ago and finsihed this past winter and working on two Script GPW's side by side (saves time on researching what size bolt etc. goes where!). Then there's the '55 pickup, the '58 wagon, the trail rig CJ5, to project CJ6, etc..... See what I mean!?

Jeff, those are great problems, too many projects but the time and space to work on them. Sounds like you are finally in the prime situation for getting them moving. I like your idea of side by side restorations. A two-fer eh? The workspace is definately a deciding factor. A friend of mine who restores old motorcycles told me, "build twice as big as you think and you will still not have enough room". Good advice. I ended up putting up another steel building to move the dirty work (grinding, cleaning etc) and some of the long term storage. Of course money is usually a deciding factor.

Exactly what I need! I have such a mess. Even the lights are covered with a rust colored flour-fine powder from welding/grinding/priming/painting/etc. I originally wanted to hang a curtain separating the "storage area" from the work area, but it really hasn't worked out that way. After a certain point I'll clean everything and start over, and be less messy for a while!

Great advice! I origninally intended to have a segregated area for welding, grinding, painting, etc. but it didn't work out as the HVAC system spread the finest dust particles that you can imagine everywhere, including the ceiling. It's a total mess. After I complete the next two projects I intend to take a step back, use the extra space that's created from having two projects done and capable of being "out" and thoroughly clean the shop from top to bottom. Right now it's so dirty I need extra lighting.

After schlepping 2500 miles on a round trip 4 day adventure I finally returned with 68902. I will take a few days to unwind and move it into a storage building for safe keeping. I'll post a few more pics later. Overall nice to have with original data plates, an ordnance GPW non-SN engine and many nice parts.

Things to work on
  • Many bolt on items
  • Windshield is toast
  • rust in main floor cross hat channl, side, and rear parts
  • right body panel very rippled
  • extra holes drilled here and there
  • tail gate cut in, but should repair easily as most of original rear panel is there
  • etc., etc.

So 68901 is finally going thro restoration got the tub off the frame yesterday and today went thro the frame and took off the transmission and transfer case both GPW so I believe to be original to the jeep. Finding a ton of original paint on it that is exciting. I will keep everyone posted as I move along with her the tub is kind of rough being very beat up. I have an august 42 tub in much better shape but really just don’t know at the moment if I can bring myself to swap it out. Floor’s definitely need replacement tho. Last I found a crack in the block and was told by the machine shop it can not be fixed but I am getting a second look at it. I will post many more photos to come
