Ford GPW UK licence plate number HRO 443
The first jeep I ever owned I bought from a farmer in 1968, when I lived in the UK . It was a 1943 Ford, and the plate number was HRO 443. I sold it in 1974 or 5.
I am wondering if the current owner ever gets to look at this forum .... I'd love to know how the jeep is doing all these years later.

Have owned dozens of flat fenders over the years including 1945 CJ2A 10011 which I sold in 2002.
First 4WD was an Austin Champ in 1965, and then a GPW UK license number HRO 443, sold in 1974.

You should try WW2 British army jeep research page on facebook - they may be able to help.

HRO 443 is still listed on the DVLA data base. However its registered as a Willys Painted Green. Someone may come on here and say they are the owner. They may even sell it back to you for the same money you got when you sold it

Thanks Nick and Barrie,
The DVLA looks like a good way to go. Maybe he'll sell it to me for what I paid for it, which was sixty Pounds. Shipping to California might be a bit pricey though ....

The only way to find the owner is if a friendly UK cop ,taps into the Department Vehicle Licencing Authority They would then have access to the current owner of your old gpw.
