Hi
Just got a military jeep
No dash tag No paperwork
Stripping the hood
Found
USMC 122174
any information about how to find out the history on this
Completely stock
Brand new rebuilt motor
Lots of rust
I got it from a friend who got it from estate
Engine was in the passenger side
Has 4 combat rims
I am trying to strip the hood looks like yellow paint with a lot of stencil letters?
No star
I don't know how to attach pictures

Re: USMC 122174
Since you mention combat rims, I'm assuming this is a WWII jeep? Was the USMC number found on top of forest green paint or was it over top of the yellow paint you mentioned? Do you know the year of the jeep? Is the front cross member round tubing or 'U' shaped? If round, check the inside of the front left frame horn for a Willys frame number tag. If 'U' shaped, check the top of the frame rail just behind the driver side front shock to see if there is a GPW serial number stamp. If you're able to find those numbers it will help other on here provide additional information regarding the year and date of delivery of your jeep. Does the engine have a serial number stamped behind the oil filter housing on the oval boss? No one will be able to provide you history related to where the jeep was based/served during the war, but there are a few people here you can provide you details on where and when the jeep was built, as well as confirming or providing the correct, or close to correct hood number.

Welcome Mike
You need to start a page on Surface zero G503 and post your pictures.
It took me a couple of time to figure it out.
Looking forward to pictures.
Good Luck.
