This is from an original Jeep mostly olive drab any ideas why this would have blue paint underneath?

Hello,

Is the blue paint just painted over the original numbers ?

I have a 1942 GPW that had its original blue drab hood numbers painted over with the same blue drab.
( It was fun uncovering the original numbers in that field of blue !!! )
It was done before the jeep was sold surplus here in the USA.
It was a very common practice, usually done with black paint or green drab from the pictures I have seen.

that is likely the case with your jeep, unless it is blue all over :D :D :D

Best Regards,
Ray
