Post by Sargent Resorator » Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:33 pm

Hello everyone,
I have enjoyed G503 for some years. I currently have a GPW 197412. I have been collecting ww2 jeeps and parts for a couple of years now. Now want to share my progress on my restoration so far. I will post pictures soon.

I would like to ask for help. I would greatly appreciate knowing the plant and where my GPW was made. Any help appreciated.

So I started out collecting a early MB body on a 43 GPW 108xxx frame. A trailer. I repaired the tub and frame. Painted the tub. Had the frame and seven combat wheels power coated green. Them I found a matching GPW tub and frame. Then I stopped to build a new shop three years ago. I almost have my shop completed. I will be starting to get my GPW on the road.

Unforturately I did not take many photos of my tub restoration. My gas tank was rusted and unusable. I did not want to spend 500 bucks for a new one. So I cut out the bottom and made this stainless steel tank incert. The I covered it with the old tank. The new filler cap is under the big cap, and the outlet is in the same location.

Been a while since I posted. Moving into my new shop has made a big mess. A couple of years ago when I was dissembling my GPW. I found this little brass spray bottle. Under the dash by the glove box and parking brake handle. I think it is a small fire extinguisher. What do you think it is? My GPW is a radio jeep.

Just in the process of the finish details of my new shop. I have started to move in and discovered that I need more room. I pulled out a set of front and rear axles to install them under the jeep so I can roll in around. I discovered that I have an early rear ford axle. ImageImageImageImageLater I will change out the rear axle for late war one. Finally back on wheels and tires. :D
