In the process of moving into my new shop. I was able to spend a little time on the jeep this weekend. I finished welding both sides of the fire wall gussets. I was also able to work on my original front bumper. I wanted to be able to mounted it safely and retain its ordinality. I did some repairs on the top. Now I can bolt it on the frame.
I used some original bumper brackets for the patches. ImageImageImageImageImageImage I also took some pictures for my original rear seat cushions and tire pump. The rear cushion has three layers of canvas. ImageImage

Last night I unbolted the tub and removed it from the frame. I need to finish some minor welding under the floor. This weekend I plan to paint the frame and touch up the firewall.
I had the frame and wheels power coated a couple of years ago and the color it not correct.ImageImageImage I also started to take a look at my steering box. I have two of them. Both F marked from 43 and 44gpw's.ImageImage One of them still has the wire connection for the horn and seems to be in good order.

Last weekend I was able to paint my frame the correct color. After the painting was complete, I set the frame in the shop on stands to begin the assembly phase.Image
Years past I had built these rolling stands for a drive line shop for rebuilding differentials.
So last weekend I built one to use for the jeep differentials.
ImageImageImage
The chain vise keeps the differential from rotating.

Finishing up on the reassemble of the motor this last weekend. With the cold weather, spray paint cans or spray gasket don't flow very well. So if you soak them a cup of warm water it really helps.

Finally I received my summer top from Weebee Webbing. Fit perfectly. I had one of my windshield studs off. Had to drill the hole over 1/2".
I took these pictures a couple of days ago. Now the top is getting tighter and looks great.

I have two original fire wall insulation pads. One was usable. I had to remove the old cardboard backing and glue two layers on. As you can see I used wood glue and used a lot of weight. I let it set for two days. Then trimmed around the edges.

Hello,

That is a great save on the firewall insulation cardboard.
Very nice !!!
I may look into that to try myself sometime to save one.

Your radio and equipment finds are awesome, and I really like your jeep shovel as well.
Keep up your excellent work on your jeep !!

I was thinking it would be good to find a radio that is not working or missing the radio items and replace them with a shortwave radio, and also an am- fm radio.
That way I could talk to people in France or any where else, right from the jeep.
With the fm car radio also have regular radio reception in the WW2 speakers when driving or parked.
I wonder if others have done this ?

Best Regards,
Ray

Installed the fire wall insulation. Installing all the gauges, and the tubing, sending units, parking brake linkage thru the fire wall. I also fabricated the antenna side mount. The angle brace is next to fabricate.

Finishing up on the final carburetor insulation. I purchased a carburetor linkage from Ron. I realized that I had seen one of the parts in my rusty parts pile. I wire wheeled it of to discover the spring tab bracket off the carburetor to intake manifold is " F " stamped. is this common?
Looks cool.

I finally fired up the motor and it runs very strong. Only have minor adjustments with carburetor and timing. Also finished up antenna bracket and brace.
This weekend I started to rebuild on my springs. Going to blast, paint and assemble next.

Been working on the gas tank. Welded up my stainless tank this weekend.

Got in install in jeep. Not even the jeep police would know unless they fill it up. :D
I enjoy welding, had the stainless material. did not want to send 500 for a tank made of mild steel.
