Not sure if the OP will post an update.
The jeep is sold.
I looked at this jeep in person. It will need either a new body or a lot of work, its not for the faint of hart. The floor is overlaid and there has been some substantial bodywork done in the past. The frame will also need some attention.
On the good side, it is a matching engine/frame but no data plates. I did get the t-case to shift without forcing it.
The OP is a really nice person and its to bad he does not have an interest in WW2 jeeps. His personality would have fit right in with us.

Re: Advice on selling a '45
A fully restored factory correct GPW can bring upwards of $35,000. A well restored Slat MB can bring upwards of $30,000 (one sd in California just a few years ago). A well know jeep parts dealer sold a common late war MB with a repop tub (who know what else) for $24,000 about 10 years ago. Joel Brodd restored and sold a very nice "motorpool" restored '42 GPW for $24,000 to another local collector about 8 years ago. I can also name a few dozen specific examples of jeeps I know of selling for upwars of $30k or more. Original and NOS parts are becoming more and more rare and as such, proper restorations are becoming very expensive thus driving valuations up. Maybe the jeeps you're referring to have a high ratio of reproduction parts? Perhaps they are not place holders in an MVPA judging event? Maybe you wouldn't pay $35,000 for an award winning GPW but there are guys who will. A nicely restored MB or GPW was worth $20-25k 10 years ago. You think they're worth less now? Maybe we are just two jeep guys cut from a different cloth.Cal.Bar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 1:44 pmNope, not new, just keep an eye on the sales section

Sure, Europe sees higher prices, but here in the US, you can buy a very well restored 45 (or even older) at just about any time for right around 20K. So change my statement above from aren't worth 20K to.... "they are worth ABOUT 20K."
