Hi everybody !
After reading Lawrence NABHOLTZ's book and John FARLEY's book, i'm a little bit lost...........
About speedometer, i've read in Mr FARLEY book, that May 43 MB have a long needle speedo, but in the end of the book he write that the short needle speedo with half moon appear in May 43..... :| :|

Ford the skid plate, which one is the correct ?? two pieces A5415 & A1253 or just one piece A1253 ( in the book : "introduced sometime in 1943")

The standart body of my mb have not the 4 holes ( i don't know why ) for the radio box on the co-driver side, but it says they're factory drill in march 43, if you have any idea....

Thanks !!!
Sorry if my English is not perfect :P

Hello David,
How is the winter weather in the Alsace ?

Your jeep looks great !

I do not have the books, but earlier Willys tubs, as well as GPW's
did not have the holes drilled in the passenger side wall until a certain time frame.
The radio suppression box was mounted up under the dash on the passengers side.
Look for bolt holes on the fire wall where it goes.

Likely on the ACM type 2 tubs, is when the side mounted radio suppression box was started ?

You look like you have an ACM type 1, with the triangle front body gussets.

Hello Ray,

The wind is a little bit cold here.... and we're waiting for snow !!
After reading MB evolutions paragraph in John FARLEY's book, the holes on the right panel, were drill in factory in march 1943.
I have also some doubt about speedometer.... they've changed in May/June 43.... wich one is the correct ?? Long needle ?? Short Needle with half moon ( Black ?/ White ? )??

Hello David,

I don't know about the speedometers, but someone here on the G will know.
Check out Jeep Draw, they have some info, but only mention early 43 when they changed from long to short half moon Motometer speedometers.
Your jeep seems to fall in that area, so it makes it a little harder to decide.
Hopefully some others will add their jeep info to this post !

http://jeepdraw.com/correctgauges.html

Look to the bottom for Willys MB speedos.

If you look at your MB Body tub, you can see the bolt holes on your passenger side front cowl where you
radio suppression box goes.
4 holes, in a vertical rectangular pattern.

Best Regards,

Ray

Some news about the MB
The body has been completely cleaned and paint. I've also drilled the 4 holes on passenger side for the radio box.

Nice work there David

You look to be in a similar state to my restoration..

You have the same filterette to me, with the single bolt cover. I am missing my cover, would you be able to let me have the dimensions please? I may try to fabricate a cover, at least temporary until I can find one..

Keep up the good work

Many thanks

OzH

No problem with the dimensions, I wouldn't have got round to fabricating a cover yet anyway.. plenty to get on with on my MB..

Great progress, transmission looks great..
