They come up on ebay here and there but I think are becoming a bit scarce. I have one more for my mortar trailer that I am restoring, BNIB, and may have another somewhere in the stash. If I do find one I'll let you know..70th Division wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 5:52 amDo you have a source of those lights ?
I have the big round British switch on my dash, and remnants of the light on the rear.
I've seen the switches on the dash but was under the impression that was a post war modification. Sorry if you have done so before, but I'd be interested in photo's if you have any you are able to share?
I know, great really! I've seen them on a few British jeeps at shows here in the UK. I think it was a post war mod as well but happy to use a bit of artistic licence when it comes to dates!
Hello Oz,
Here in the USA, many refer to the differential as the "Pumpkin", well at least in New Hampshire, where I am from,
thus I called it a Pumpkin light
That would be great if you can find a"spare" light or even a parts unit
I will look on the UK ebay to see if I can get some of the items.
On my British jeep, that round knob is mounted on the dash, to the left side.
The pumpkin is also painted white, and had OEP 220 stenciled on the cover.
(OEP = Oil Extreme Pressure )
There were 3 "known" USA based British jeeps.
1 of the 3, is now back in Great Britain, owned by another G member, CharlieGPW.
His is still in original post war condition, and is a real treasure !
There may be a few more out there ?
We sort of made a good information post on another G members restoration thread on his "Number 2" British Jeep.
MadCoLars posted some good pictures of my British Jeep features on the post.
As it was then, and is now, a little hard to get at for new pictures
It is a great post, and you can see all 3 jeeps have that knob on the dash.
All 3 jeeps were rebuilt by the British, 2 confirmed as rebuilt in Germany.
My jeep pics are on page 3, with the later shade of green on it still.
An update on my jeep, it is actually an all 1943 GPW, (not a 42 Willys with a Ford frame, as I once thought).
The body is an ACM 1, but its serial number is from late 43 production, when Ford started using the ACM early Willys type bodies for a short time.

Interestingly, the fire extinguishers were relocated to next to the driver's seat, on the slope of the wheel well.
Keep up your great works Oz !!
Best Regards,
