Hi Farrell,

Quick questions: Was the engine original to this jeep and if so did you happen to get the casting date? I found it interesting to see the block still was using headbolts as opposed to studs.
Hi John,

I don't think I remembered to photograph the casting date, although the engine is matching to the frame. As far as I know, the head bolts are original to the engine. The P.O. attempted to change the head gasket but it was never completed.

Hi Farrell,

I couldn’t see one hence asking, but did you get any shots of the mirror arm please?

Alternatively, if Steve or the new owner have any to share, that’d be great thanks.

I’m trying to gather data/patterns to work out what was on what and when, regardless if thought original or not by common ‘opinion’ or conceptions on mirror arms.

Thanks, Ian.

Unfortunately I did not get any good shots of the mirror arm. One of the few details I missed during my visit.

Thanks for sharing these photos.

very interesting and lots of informative details for my GPW 247-024 currently under restoration.
Only 5853 units, one month approximately before mine (January 19, 1945)
