Hello,
Wow !!! What a discovery of your Jeep's history !!
That is really something to find, did the guy have any stories or history of what your jeep was
doing back then when the first picture was taken ?
He must have been very happy to see the jeep again, after it was almost long gone, and forgotten by time, before you came along and saved it
Well done !
I also really like the barn in the back ground
Best Regards,
Ray

Hi damon!
You have a verry nice and intrestig jeep!
it seems our jeeps are pretty much the same age! I assume that you don't have a badge on the glove box. What is the frame number? and more photos please, also of the number itself!
Best regards from the corona - winter sleep!

One of the nicest original jeeps I've seen. Well done for restoring it so carefully, you can never reproduce that kind of look.
You certainly have a lot of fun with it. That's the kind of terrain a jeep belongs in.

Rare to see a GPW that late with a Ford script tub. What a prize to find. I noticed the rear of tub also never had the gas can reinforcing bracket on it.

new entry!
https://ibb.co/DRQgCLv
what does it mean `NAFUS'? THANKS
First that is an awesome trailer, with Invasion marking all over it !!!
That trailer is loaded with history !!
"NAFUS" stands for " North African French-US" .
All packages and equipment from the US going to, or given to, the French in North Africa for re-armament as a new Allied Army was marked NAFUS.
Along with vertical red, white, and blue stripes.
An early term for the new French Allied Forces , that were organized by NATOUSA , North African Theater of Operations US Army, HQ.
The entire French re-armament started in North Africa, and likely this trailer was from that effort .
General Giraud was the French leader who really got the re-arming started, and built up the new French Army, in North Africa with the help of the USA, and a smaller earlier extent the British.
Was it found in Italy ?
The French were equipped in North Africa, and sent to Italy.
Almost all the equipment was French Lend- Lease, other equipment was taken direct from US Army stock, and given to the French.
Mainly from the 5th Army.
I took this pic of the search page below :
Here is a link to a book about 500 pages that should cover it somewhere .
https://history.army.mil/html/books/011 ... b_11-6.pdf
A foot note is all that I have found about NAFUS markings, on page 46.
NATOUSA supplied the French Army from North Africa , to Italy, and all the way until they were landed in Southern France, when the ETO command took over supply responsibilities.
Best Regards,
Ray
