Hello Jedburgh,

Very nice that you are back on the G with your great Jeep !!
I am glad you got a good welder, and have already started making important repairs !

Hello It's just the beginning of the repairs the more I'm going to do and the more I'm going to get used to it, the I start small, and then I would take care of the right wing that I had repaired badly at the time and after the cash register because I have qd even a little work.

Hello,

That is great !!

Keep going at it, and you will impress yourself at how quick you pick up welding skills !!

I repaired some really rough front fenders, that many would have replaced.
But I saved them, and they came out great !!
It was very pleasing to be able to restore them, and looking at from what I started with, to the finished fender, I àm very happy !!

I also bought a small spot welder.
If you are able, see if you can next get one of those, or borrow one.
They can really speed things up, and work beautifully to add missing spot welded parts to your fender and jeep.

Also get a bunch of long welding clamps, they are very handy and needed once you start moving along.
You can use them to clamp a piece of aluminum, or bronze, or copper, behind holes you weld up, and the aluminum will make a smooth flat surface for your weld on the back.

Best Regards,
Ray

Merçi for encouragement. I will buy welding equipment, the goal being to save as many elements as possible.

Hello Jedburgh,

Yes you have a very special Jeep !!
An amazing discovery, a time capsule !!

Have you discovered what Division it served with ??

The WC had a 9 on the bumper, that could have been the 9th Air Force, or maybe the 9th Infantry Division ?

The 9th Inf. Division has an incredible record, including crossing the Remagen Bridge under fire.
Landing on Normandy, D plus 4 on Utah Beach, going to Cherbourg and all points from there.
They entered combat in North Africa in 1942 !!

The star next to the 9 seems to lean to Army Air Force.
The 9th Air Force was involved on the Invasion, and later had fighter bases in France during the War .
If you get a chance, post again the bumper markings or other markings, that you have uncovered.

If it was an " Old Reliable " jeep, you might find a picture if it with the 9th 😁

Keep up you great works !!

What was the city where you bought the jeep ?

Maybe there was a fighter squadron based there ?

Best Regards,
Ray

Good evening,
For the jeep, unfortunately, the bumpers are too damaged to be able to read a marking .... I only have the TQM code but I'm not more advanced...
The Dodge appears to belong to the 9th USAAF in view of the star after the 9th. There was at the time an airfield not far away but I do not know which squadron was stationed there.
