Re: Mystery GPW
MMich....
If you go to jeepdraw, there is a lot of info on what colors each part should be painted....and some of yours is not correct.
Given that you have a matching frame/motor and you can purchase data plates.....have you considered swapping that script Ford tub for one that would be "correct" for your '44 GPW? To be honest, the early script tub is highly sought after and all other things being considered....is worth "more" than a later composite tub.
Just worth considering!

Re: Mystery GPW
Hi Chuck,
Thanks for pointing that out...and I will check out Jeepdraw now to investigate and correct as necessary.
I have also replaced the tub with a later GPW tub (non-script) so that it would be the correct tub version for my 44 GPW.
Best Regards,
Matt

Apologies for the delayed update and post with the final restoration pics…I still need to get all of the canvas seats and covers, etc..

Re: Mystery GPW
Funny you would go to all that trouble on the tub replacement, and then put those really wrong bumperettes on. My opinion.

Schultz – Roger that…and a good point. I should have replaced them. The rear bumperettes were on it originally (prior to restoration) and decided to just use them for now.

Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice jeep and deserves to be "dressed" correctly.

Re: Mystery GPW
Thanks! I have been overseas and in Washington DC for the past couple years. I haven't been back home for at least 2 years (until recently). I was able to pull it out of storage, run it for a few days (this past Veteran's Day week), and then perform some storage PM before heading back out of town. I love it and hope to be able to drive and work on it more frequently but that will not happen for awhile.
I'm hoping to mount this plaque I had made in memory of my grandfather:
I'm just not sure where to mount it without it being distracting as well as respectful to the sentiment. I was also thinking about stenciling his name on it somewhere...

Re: Mystery GPW
I used my Father's WWII unit markings on the bumpers and then put my Mother's name in cursive above the rear wheel wells, like some WWII soldiers did. It creates conversations and then I can explain what it all means to folks who are interested.
