Very nice unrestored MB 1943 : For SALE

Post by MickaelUSA » Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:26 pm

I thought it would be a very good contribution of a very original unrestored MB 1943.
When the jeep will be home I will post other pictures with details.
I am very happy about this nice barn find!
Cheers,

Contribution Part II:

I have been able to gather additional information on the jeep from the daughter of the previous owner

Wolfhounds are painted on the jeep. The jeep may have been in the wolfhound division of the war. The serial number of the jeep might give more insight as to where it was in the war theatre.

The jeep was originally purchased by my dad in California 1962. I learned to drive in the desert in this jeep in Carson City NV and will always cherish that memory. To change to 4 wheel drive you have to get out, change the lugs and I did it by myself. There are many memories of travels in the jeep - we went to Ft. Wingate New Mexico, Kit Carson cave, and the Painted Desert one summer. It was hot since no air conditioning but we did not care. What a great time especially for a young person.

The jeep has been in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and towed to Alaska on the Alaskan Highway (ALCAN) where my dad worked on the XXXXXX in the 1970's. The jeep then came back to Nevada and then moved to Texas in 1996 where it has been ever since. The jeep has been in our family all these years and it has been well cared for.

It is hard to part with such a great piece of history but we will always have the memories

As of today this jeep will be called <<Wolfhounds>>

Contribution III:

The jeep should arrive home next Thursday ...

I'm so jealous! It is hard to believe that these still pop-up nowadays. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures as well.

Wow, that is a great looking jeep you have there. More pictures? Oui oui !! Please take accurate documentation of every detail that you reasonably can. If this is an original unrestored vehicle then this is just what the jeep archeologists are looking for. Even tiny parts that are meaningless to you could answer many questions for someone else.
And don't throw anything away.

Wow, nice find! By the way the most famous Wolfhounds in the US Army is the 27th Infantry Regt. of the 25th Infantry Division. During WW2 they fought during the attack on Oahu (Dec 7th, 1941/Pearl Harbor), at Guadalcanal, Philippines and became occupation troops in Japan. Today the 27th is based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Aloha,

Olav
