Re: Ford GPW #51198
I had a simular parts storage problem myself. I had half of an Willys MB and a bunch of GPW, and M29 Weasel parts in half of the living room one bedroom and the garage. I finally bought a house with a big enough garage and a storage shed to get the vehicle parts out of the living spaces.
It's amazing how much space a dissasembled Jeep takes up, but it gets roomier when you finally start putting things together.

Nice Pics Robert
To be honoust i don't mind to lose space for this project it is well worth it
Little update, no photo's:
I drilled out de rivets at the back and dry fitted the repro rear crossmember, wich fits pretty good.
I als removed the front bumper gussets top sides, these need some remodeling.
I also made a new tool for the fake rivets, just how Ian suggested.
Like i said little update

The tool that you need for tighting up the fake rivets is a 3/8" square drive like an american 3/8" ratchet. Keep up the good work.

Re: Ford GPW #51198
It has been a long time, but i did some work in my cold working space the last couple of months. now i have found the time to show you my progress. I'm not as fast as some here but at the end i will get there. I hope to have the jeep back on its feet this year, next year i want the motor, transmission and transfercase done, after that will be the body work. OK what have i been doing:
- I did a little inspection of the inside of the axles, and i mus say they look pretty darn good. No chipped teeth and nice f-marks all over.
- I finally bought a mig welder, and have been doing some welding. First i repaired a crack in the frame at the back end.
- second i repaired the pedestal mount.
- With the help of a neighbour, who has a lathe (according to the translation help in google ), i turned the look of the fake rivet more like the original.
- After this i installed the new rear crossmember, with the changed rivets.
- I installed the intermdeiate crossmember i got from Brandon, i sandblasted it and primed it. The bolts are nice f-marked repro's.
- next job are the bumper gussets, they need to be hammered back in shape. I have done some work already, but the photo's will be shown when i finish it.
OK as always, pictures say more, a little warning.. many pictures, i will split them up in 2 sections.

Hi from England!
Looks great! Really coming on.
It is no time at all (15 months) since I was at that stage (pic 1) and now I am at final painting (almost!) and assembly (pics 2 and 3).
Please don't anybody say I have got the pictures mixed up!!
Keep at it (I am!).
Jon.

Re: Ford GPW #51198
Hello G-members,
I've got another update on my jeep. As said in my earlier posting i finished the bumpergussets. Well they aren't the pretiest around but they are still the original ones and i am happy with it. I used the drawings from jeepdraw for getting them back in shape. irst i hammered them flat, after that i hammered them back in shape.
I put the bumpergusstes back on the frame with imitation rivets wich i managed to look a bit like the original ones. Also i made bumperspacers, first i made four of them and welded them up but luckly i did some research afterwards and found out i only needed 2 on the outside of the bumpergussets. I als made a reinforcement plate for the pintle hook with the help of the drawings from jeepdraw. Turned out pretty nice. At last i painted the frame today, it is now OD, pretty cool . OK, as always here are the pics.

Hi René,
Thnx for your interest.
Yes i'm watching the world cup .
I have made little progress, doing small things now and making a shoppinglist for Beltring (war and Peaceshow). I bought a verry nice Ford marked Pintlehook from Marktplaats. My axels are with Bram van Buuren Jeeps for an overhaul. So still some things are happening but nothing really worth a picture.
How's your jeep comming along?
