Re: Ford GPW #51198
As Promised finally some pictures (uhm some? maybe to much?). Yesterday the jeep has been sandblasted and primed. So no more blue, we now have a red devil . But first some pictures of the disassembly of the frame. 1st pic is the frame almost bare. The back crossmember was completely twisted and beyond repair, so i cut that away.
Next job was to completely strip (the outside of the) the axles. So springs/ brakedrums/ brakelines:
What a mess!!
Finally the big parts where ready for sandblasting and primer. It Almost didn't fit the trailer i rented . I really liked seeing the transformation through sandblasting and then by the red primer.
After sandblasting i discovered some nice F-marks on the fenders.
And then it was prime time!
I hope you enjoyed the picstures

IN this holiday i went to the 65 th rememberence of operation Market Garden in Ede (Ginkel Heath) and Oosterbeek. I have seen a lot of original MV's!! That was really awsome. I als went to a trademarket were i bought a new rear crossmember. Online i ordered replacement rivets, can someone tell me what kind of tool i need to screw these rivets together???
Enough talking, pictures!

Re: Ford GPW #51198
Hi mate,
Great work you are doing!
In regards to the screw together rivets, i just got a big bolt- with enough shaft diameter to fit accordingly in the hole of the piece with the pattern. I then used an angle grinder to cut out the pattern of the screw piece into the bolt until it fitted into the pattern of the screw piece (i hope this make sense- if not, just say so and i`ll try to find a pic of what i did). Then just used the appropriate sized spanner/wrench and tightened away!
Good luck with it all,
Cheers from Oz,
Ian.

Hoi,
