Willys parts found at Junkyard

Post by airbornenoncom502 » Thu May 15, 2008 12:22 pm

Here is what i have so far, will get more pictures up tonight after we get the rest of the parts.

Willys 4 Cyl Flat Head ( Not sure on the date or anything the guy said it was all off of a 45 Willys), my dad and myself started stripping it down to bare essentials last night. Too see what needs to be done to it.
Here are the pictures of the Block, Transmission, and Transfer Case.

I also do have the head, but did not take a picture of it.
(The Liquid in the Cylinders is not Water, its Penetration Oil, as its seized up and one of the culprits could be the rings could be stuck to the walls.)

Also that aluminum box is a Hydrolic pump, they guy who had the jeep before it was scraped used it as a plow.

That tranny looks like a Civvy T-90 to me. I don't think it is from a '45 anything.Shawn

The Pump is a HI-LO Jeep Pump made by Monarch. It was popular on Scheneker Jeep Snow Plows of 40's-50's. They were a smooth set up for the time, they clamped to the Generator with a metal band, and operated by a rod that was located by drilling holes thru the dash and firewall.

Thats exactly what they guy had it for, as the front end has a plow still attached to it, funny when i spin the pulley hydrolic fluid shoots out. Thanks for pointing that out though!

I think you can safely say the motor will need a rebuild!

O ya that is for sure, luckly everything was coated in Sludge and it saved most of the internals.. Last night me and my dad got the crank out and the # 1 piston, and the cylinder is still in very good shape except around the rim, and the cylinder has got a bit of wear on it. Tonight we are going to attempt to get the rest of the pistons out. So far no cracks or anything. Then comes the cam shaft and the Valves. Luckily between me my dad grandpa and my uncle it will be a breeze. My Uncle i would say is probably the best mechanic in the area no joke... We are a real big drag racing family... and cars period.. so that is where our knowledge comes from.

What does the data plate on top of the Transfer case say? It may be an MB item. You might have to measure the intermediate shaft or just check to see if it has the holes to accept the T-84 shift rails.

Well, i will have to go the secondary route in identifying it as the tag is completely unreadable.

Looks like a military starter, anyhow. None of that CJ firewall pushbutton linkage stuff...
