Four of Lloyd White's unrestored jeeps.

Post by Mark Tombleson » Sat Jan 12, 2008 7:20 pm

Lloyd White asked me to post four of his unrestored jeeps to the board.

Here are MB-232625 & GPW-93184.

And these are MB-116207 and MB-209604.

He told me, "these are four of my unrestored jeeps that I will be selling in the future, and wondering what the market will bring as to a price."

His email address in in every issue of Army Motors, but here it is.

GPWMB20@aol.com

The four are pretty cool... I took some photos of 10 of them this last summer.

Well I will be willing to give Lloyd a fair offer for all 4  Lets see what we got here.....

4 old vehicles with worn tires, only one with a license plate, 60 year old paint that looks real flat(don`t they wash and polish cars in Or?) No A/C  Seat covers where you can see the springs shining" through all ower, one jeep with what looks like a home made radiator guard......I am sure there are lots of parts that have not been replaced since they was produced + 60 years ago and that does not sound correct when you know that your new Toyota need service and a few new parts every year.

Have to sit down and figure out a "correct" price, but should be around $ 400 for all 4. I have heard that you can buy them in crates for $50 but that you will have to put a lot of time into mounting parts to get them drivable.

Sorry Lloyd..... You know how much I like those jeeps and that I would LOVE to have them here in my garage.
Don`t sell these goodies! Sell the other jeeps you have.

Lloyd is very good at "how I found it" stories. Perhaps he'll tell us how he found these especially the slat grill.

Lloyd's Jeeps

Post by The Fireman » Tue Jan 15, 2008 8:32 am

To all,

This is just my opinion and mine only. I have seen these jeeps in person and also know alittle bit about jeeps in general.

It is my opinion, that in the present day market, the USMC, the slat grill, the jeep with MTO on the front bumper are worth $100,000 USD each, the jeep with the Army Air Corps on the rear bumperette is worth $75,000 USD. How much this would be in foreign money, I would not know. These jeeps are not the atypical jeep you find laying around everyday, nor are very apt to find in a lifetime of searching.

I will not substantiate or give reasons why I have put these amounts on these jeeps, as this is only my opinion. I will not give a basis for my opinion, nor do I wish to get into a debate on my opinon.

Have fun, and enjoy the hobby. The real bottom line is what a willing buyer would pay for these jeeps and what a willing seller would take for these jeeps.

Hi Frank,

I agree with your last statement.
To sell something there are 2 partys that needs to set a value.

I can easilly set a correct value on these jeeps, because when I set a value on them I would also pull the $$ for it and buy them.
That would be of course my real value at that time.

Another source for real value is as suggested above, put them on e-bay well explained and pictured.
That will show the real value as well.

Kind regards, Luc

How come Lloyd is selling off his jeeps, Mark? He must be getting soft in his twilight years
Think I'll sell my MB to the Fireman Frank for half price ($50,000) and buy Lloyd's '60 El Camino..if it's up for grabs too :D

I'll quote a statement that you can probably find ei every issue of Hemmings,

" You can restore it a thousand times, but it's only "original" once."
