Excellent. You've done an amazing job, especially considering you had never welded before. Just about to do the same myself.

What a magnificent jeep ! Thanks for sharing these nice photo's.
Is that expensive to make a single or two magnetic markings like yours?

Hi Yves

They were around £55 including shipping from Tony at Axholme

https://www.axholmesigns.co.uk/

All my stencils came from Tony who was very helpful when I miss ordered or trashed them by accident!

I plan to get another set as my brother in law is in the Royal Engineers, so I'll have set for when he visits!!

Some of you may have noticed that I was missing the tow hook. As I don't yet have trailer wasn't an issue but I noticed a "Nato" tow hook on ebay that looked suspiciously like a Jeep pintle so took a chance and won for a fraction of what I could have paid.. little victories..!

It was coated in layers of paint and dirt as well as being completely seized up

I did notice a little mark under all that crud..

Image

It does have the safety pin hole drilled. I could have welded it up but left it as I may use it!
I managed to get it apart and give it the wire brush treatment

Image

Nice "little" F mark

Now installed..

I'd rather have an MB pintle but I know these things were interchanged in the field..

I've not posted anything for a while and thought this may be of interest

I couldn't make it to Normandy as I wasn't sure I would have completed my rebuild by now so last night, 5th June, after work I took a trip up to Tarrant Rushton airfield that is about 10 minute drive from me.

This is where the aircraft and gliders took off from that landed at Pegasus bridge

Its a nice little spot with quite a moving memorial:
