Seems like everybody has their own opinion, these guys say cast.

Years ago i came up with cast, anybody have proof? lots of research books out there, anybody ever read any of them?

For what it’s worth I’ve seen 2 unrestored midland frame gpws in the last year that both had cast wing bolts. Sorry don’t remember #s.

The general thinking is cast is early BUT, the stamped style bolt head is very similar to the AC air filter central bolt head. So maybe it's not a part evolution as maybe an alternative on the blueprints or a Willys versus Ford part?

Nikko
Just to stir the debate a little. In John Farleys Standardised Jeep book. His engine bay shot of a "Mid 42" GPW (one piece Upper hose ,Ring oil filler
spark plug caps ect ) clearly shows Stamped/pressed wing nut. Maybe a VEP V EP gpw thing? Plant v plant thing?
regards Nick
ps Been toooo long since our last beer together buddy  :D
