GPW engine. Does someone want it?

Post by Cameron Koehn » Mon Aug 30, 2021 3:24 pm

I recently purchased a cj2a, but it has a gpw engine. Would there be any interest in the engine. It is running. It does burn oil. Looks to be original except for alternator conversion and dry element air cleaner. It is not for sale. I can get numbers if you want.

Too bad you are so far away! I would be interested in it, if not for the shipping!

Ok looks like there is interest. Like I said it is not for sale. It is currently installed in my Jeep and I cannot sell it until I have an engine to replace it. To those that are interested, are you thinking $500 or $4,000. What is typical? Stamping on top right hand side: GPW-IC2940. I'm not sure about the "C". Could be a zero.

People want it, and CJ engines are much easier to get. Your serial number definitely has no C in it.
Running, hopefully, means it is not cracked under the oil pump where many Ford engines crack. They are thinner there. So, if you want to sell it, you should auction it. Or offer to trade for a good CJ engine. Or sell it outright for $1000, plus or minus, $500. Guys in Europe will pay huge money for them too.
Do not be afraid of shipping; Fastenal will ship it anywhere for $200 or so, put it on a pallet. Our local store even gives you the pallet and straps it down.
Why did you put this in the VEP section? It's not a vep. Limited visibility here. Put it in the For sale section, or tech knowledge; you will be swamped.

Sorry I am new to this site. I have been on the 2a page for years. Maybe someone could move the thread?

Everywhere I've looked the F script is visible.

Just post a for sale ad on the MB/GPW for sale section. It will sell immediately.

Interesting marketing technique.

Donn't post a price and tell everyone it is not for sale and sit back and watch the PM's roll in.

Seems to work.

I agree. It is an auction without declaration.

Be careful; 4 posts and now, and now, zero responses. Could be in Nigeria. Just wire the money; completely safe. I'll mail you the engine, guaranteed.
