yep, ebay had them for a bit, longview washington area, $700 ish. have not seen them on the auction site after july of 19 or so. Ron used to have them , call him and I think D.B jeeps had them, call.

I have 2, no F's or anything, and I will sell 1 shortly, usa mainland shipping only, I will look at what it cost me plus postage, this one came from ebay, out in washington 2 years ago, it is unused, just sitting on the shelf. guessing it was one of the unfinished ones a member was repoping. I will keep the one I just got on the Gee. I think u saw it when you were out here.

look back through the posts, there was something there about them

How are these compared to the original?
I see they have a paper filter.
Are the insides different?

I have not handled one, but perhaps there is a write up on the G about them. Call ron and chat with him for details. Having watched this issue for about 5 years, I think I only saw one real one and I think it was about $1500, but can't recall without doing a search. They are quite hard to find. All I was ver to get was an original AC Pancake Air Filter original wax covered box within which they were stored. Empty of course, but a nice find.

2 repos, one on right said to be from Mike Stopforth, left from ebay in WA. very slight differences, from what i came up with there were somewhere around 25 unfinished when maker passed. the pic showing the 6 internal spotwelds is reversed.

I have one of Mike Stopforth's units and I like it.

It uses a paper filter and I believe Ron's are built just like Mike Stopforth's units were.

These are great "place holders" until you locate an original unit.

I was lucky enough that when I bought my VEP, I posted it on here and the previous owner messaged me to say he sold the Jeep to a UK based dealer.

He also had the original pancake filter which I bought for a $1000 I think it was, it has the small F stamp on the top and came with the original f marked air horn and screw. There should be a matching air horn with no hole in the washer for the carb but I’ve not found one yet.

I rescued gpw 4738 from the Wisconsin woods last fall, I’m going to part it out. It still has the original pancake filter. It’s complete including the air horn, through bolt and 3 of the original wing nuts. I believe the firewall mounts are still on the jeep also. The filter did sit with water in and it rusted through where the square nut is soldered to the bottom. Otherwise in good condition.

That sounds like it’s worth a grand or more. Very hard to find. Don’t let them steal it from you.
