Slat grill Footman loops on a GPW?

Post by m3bobby » Sun May 03, 2020 3:13 pm

Hello all, would anyone know if the (what I’m told) Slat grill footman loops were fitted to early GPWs? The F marked top bows and passenger seat that came with my GPW have the Slat style loops. Was it more of a case of “early v late” rather than specific to the Slat? Oh and the pivot thingys are also Early Willys I think.

Yes some of the VEP GPW's came with the slat grill style footman loops. At least GPW-712 and GPW-713 did. Mainly in the ax and shovel area and under the passenger seat.

That’s great, at least there’s a very good chance these are original to my jeep. I don’t suppose 712 and 713 had the early willys top bow pivots/mounts? Both of mine have match the condition and paint of the vehicle and match each other so they been on a long time.

Hello Mate
If that's typical of the ones you have on your jeep. The picture of the footman you posted is'nt an early one. It's a late one (in my opinion).
regards Nick

The photo does look like a late type but when I put a late style against it, the one in the photo looks squarer if that makes sense.
