Calling all script GPW's
Hi All,
I'm wondering if there would be any interest in a "Script GPW" showing at the 2019 International convention in York, PA. I have 2 scripts that are running and I thought it might be very cool to have a contingent of Scripts side by side. I'm sure there will be a lot of jeeps this year; but I kinda would like to see a bunch of Ford stamps together. I live on Long Island, NY.
I know there are several script GPW's on the east coast and I'm just putting out feelers for anybody's response. East, West North South or Central.
If there were at least 5 other scripts willing to make a showing, I might spend the money to trailer my two scripts to York.
Let me know. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Here are my scripts so far, but I think both will be much farther along. I hope to hear from you.
Thanks,
John

Re: Calling all script GPW's
IO am working on a 4-24-1942 Ford script GPW for a friend that lives close to York. I also have a Ford Script Slat grill chassis that I might bring to York. I need to check the schedule.

Hi Brian and Dawgman,
Thanks for replying. Hopefully others will respond. At least this is a starting point. Keep your eyes out for others' interest.

Unfortunitely, there is absolutely no possibility that my GPW 2647 will make it next year but it would be nice to see a large grouping of script GPW’s together!

Hi Chuck, I am working on GPW # 17742 4-24-1942. I have no idea how to figure out what factory it came from but I did buy it from a long time owner that lived not far from Chester PA.

Re: Calling all script GPW's
I'm so glad to hear from some of you guys. So far there are a possible SIX script GPW's that might be in attendance. It would be great to see a few more. They could be in any state of completion. Let's make a statement with these lovable pieces of history!

Re: Calling all script GPW's
Brian...your GPW can be identified by Tom but he's been banished for spitting on the sidewalk or some such rubbish I think. No word on the "official" reason....but, if yours has the same irregularities on the data plate as mine does then it would be a Chester, PA jeep...
1) Note that the serial number is repeated in the "mystery box"
2) See the Parts Manual TM listed as "1374". This is an error as that number is for a Ford Staff Car..the correct number of course should be "1348" for that TM.
If your data plate is like mine, you have a Chester PA Ford factory GPW...which by the way I think you do!

Re: Calling all script GPW's
I've got GPW 14280, April 9, 42 Chester, PA and am working on a friends GPW also an April 42 Script. I will be at the show, but don't know what vehicle I will be bringing, but I could be talked into bringing the GPW. Are yu looking for just script GPW's? Or Chester assembled scripts? Understand that the Chester plant, if still standing, is not a Ford facility and too far away for photo ops.
If the MVPA could put together a 1 hr presentation on the Chester, PA facility and it's war time production, I'd go to that in a minute. Beats the same lame, paint and convoy presentations. Just my opinion.
I might even consider volunteering for that job.
