Hi John,
I guess that you don't have a filterette at all? How early is your GPW? from what I can make out VEP had the hinged Tobe like was used in Slat Grills.
My friend made one for his Slat, using drawings from Jeepdraw. It looks the part.

John,
April , i'm not to sure if that would be that model. I have just been trying to find a post on FB, to no avail. I'm waiting for the new GPW Judging Standards, written by Mike Wright to come out. My friend already had the 3 filter units to use as a start for his filterette.

I have an April ‘42 and, determined through research years ago, the hinged filterette is the correct one for first contract GPWs. I searched for a while to find a good one. Since then, I’ve seen only a couple come up for sale on the auction site and swap meets. If you find one, you’ll have to pay for it. I think I paid $400 for the one I have in excellent condition and I think that would be a deal nowadays.

John, this is how his filterette turned out. As far as I know he had an old filterette, without cover, and got drawings from Jeepdraw to make it. I think it looks great,. It's not funcational.
