Navato 4th July Parade 2012

Post by mfrance » Sat Jun 30, 2012 12:36 pm

Novato’s 20th annual 4th of July parade, boasting more than one hundred entries, is one of the largest in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Early in the morning on the 4th, crowds line Novato’s Grant Avenue where the parade begins in the city’s Old Town district. Parade-goers arrive early to watch the pageant of classic cars and color guards, festive floats and music bands, fancy cowgirls on golden palominos, and Sherman tanks. The parade is famous for its contingent of vintage military vehicles from the Joe Garbarino World War II Military Vehicle Museum.

This year’s parade honors the core of our community: “Celebrating Novato’s Families”!

This years Novato 4th of July parade was a real success. We had four warbirds perform flyovers several times and a couple vehicles from Garbarino including one tank. Nice to see some of this stuff come back. I have been adopted by the American Legion post 540 from Hamilton and a couple of the few remaining members riding along.
