GP Horn Plate ready to ship

Post by Brad Gates » Wed Mar 29, 2006 5:32 am

Hello GP'ers,

The reproduction horn button mounting plate is finally ready to ship! The last problem was getting the correct attaching screws. Slotted, oval head screws are hard to find.

The plate, GP# 3618, is available in 2 types. To fit an original steering wheel and to fit an aftermarket, reproduction wheel. I found during this project that the currect reproduction steering wheels have a smaller hub diameter than the original. The plate is glass beaded and ready to paint.

The price of the mounting plate is $115.00 US and includes the 3 screws and priority post shipping to the 48 states. Overseas and insured shipping is extra. I accept money order, bank check and certified check only.

This picture shows the horn button, retainer ring, screws and a mounting plate for the reproduction steering wheels.

Thanks to everyone who offered help during this project and to your patience.

Brad

Do you know the measurment for the original wheel center? I have what appears to be an original but wouldn't know for sure.

Howdy Dave,

I am not exactly sure what your asking for. BUT;

The outside dimension of the horn plate, an original, measures 4.45 inches.

The OE steering wheel center hub dimension is approx. 4.5 inches.

Therefore, there is very little difference between the steering wheel hub and the horn button mounting plate.

The difference is the center hub of the reproduction steering wheel. The reproduction steering wheels are smaller in diameter and are not perfectly round. Kind of flat sided!

If this doesn't make sense I can FAX you a drawing of the parts.

At this time I have some people interested in the horn button plate and if enough, need 10 orders to make it worth while, are requested I will stamp more. I'll post a seperate topic in the next couple of weeks to see what the interest is. Price will probably be about $125.00 each.

Regards,

BRAD
