Hey Michael, The PE 95 A,B and C model gensets used the same engine as the GP. Don't know if a serial number was stamped on the block. I believe these came with a GP head. The trick is trying to find the genset.

I agree with what Leo stated and would like to add my experience with the early PE-95 gensets.
1. Not all early PE-95s have GP heads on them. Look for the thermostat ports on the side of the head as well as "GP-6050" in the middle of the head. (see pictures below)
2. I have owned a few of these and still have one. None of them had a "GP" serial number stamped on the raised pad, but instead there was an alphanumeric serial number to which I can not find any information as to what it represents.
3. The front engine mounting bracket/plate are different between the GP and PE-95.
4. The intake and exhaust manifolds are different as well.
5. The early PE-95s did not use a fuel pump, but as you can see in the picture below that a fuel pump could be added by removing the two "F" bolts and the plate covering the fuel pump mount. This option was present because the block could be used for other purposes that did require a fuel pump. (see picture below)

However, maybe luck will be on your side and you'll find a PE-95 with a GP replacement engine! :-)

I hope this helps with your search.
