GP inner front fender panel differences

Post by jag » Tue Jan 26, 2021 3:01 am

Hi folks, greetings from Australia. A friend and I have series 1 and 2 GPS respectively. In comparing the inner left fender panels, we note the 1st series has a tab on the left, front facing edges which attached to the grill with 2 bolts. The 2nd series does not have this tab. We have another 2 original inner front left panels neither has this tab. Has anyone observed this, is it a known difference ?
I can email photos for posting by a member if needed
Thank you

Hi down there, Greetings from Europe
This is the original drawing.
As far as I understand where the tab is located, there is no tab on that drawing.
The drawing is dated from March 11, 1941

Folks, thanks for the Australia Day wishes. My mate Brian is going to provide further details on the inner fenders ( aprons) including part numbers.

I can send photos to someone for posting by email If someone wants to volunteer

May I clarify JAG's post. He visited myself last Monday and we discussed the differences between our very early series 1 and series 2 GP's.
On the very early series 1 the inner left hand guard (GP 16044 apron-front fender-LH) has on the leading edge a tab with three holes which attaches by bolts to the grill (GP 8307 Guard -brush assy).
On our series 2 GP's this tab is not evident and the manufacturer's edge is continuous from top to bottom. This means that the leading edge of the apron is not secured to the brush guard at all.
We would be please if you would look at your GP and post your observation.
Also, we have photographs which JAG can email to you if you can add them to his post.

Regards or should I write REGUARDS, Bonanza, Gold Coast, Australia.
