GP G-43-C?

My GP has writhen "G-43-C" on the inside of the Hood.
Does anyone know what this means?

Sorry can't answer your question but I do have another question. Who provided the "other than drab" forest green paint that has been on so many of our jeeps. I have had two jeeps that both had that bright forest color painted on them and they were not alone. So many old jeeps had that color and I often wonder if the government, prior to selling them, painted them forest green? :?

Sorry to stray from your initial question but I thought the photos were a good example of that green.
