Dawgman:
In Kaliforkita is oil a hazmat

Technically yes and no. Actually, I think breathing and exhaling in Kali might be too... :P

In quantity, waste oil is. You can't just dispose of it in a drain or in your backyard. So when you take it to the re-cycler, they have to handle it as a "hazardous waste". Think of PCB's and other crap that oil once had in it. I imagine now that waste oil is much cleaner than back in the day.

I got my GP air cleaner from John, back in the day, and his instructions that came with it said to use the insides from a 1941 Ford, 6-cylinder air cleaner. That didn't help much because 1941 Ford 6-cylinders were about as rare as GP's.

I purchased the J.Geesink filter from Chuck, just because it was there. It does look good sitting on the shelf. Insert is not correct. The top of the insert is solid, and with a solid top no air will get to the outlet tube of the outer filter canister. So you would have to drill round holes in it. Then it does not sit low enough in the filter housing to force the air through the oil before entering the internal filter. Air bypasses the oil and sneeks right into the filter internals.

This is a nice air cleaner, I believe it is numbered by John. I think the insert was just added. Most were set up as a dry filter. Congratulations on your purchase.
