You could really say that that the pulley shield is brazed to the radiator. It seems that the fuel filter bowls have been both a brass finish, and almost a gold finish of some kind. The gold ones appear to be older. They used the brass ones into the 1960s. AC made them.

I have been kicking around the idea, (and perhaps it could be in a part of Jons great website) of a detailed catalog of the GP by part number. It would be a big project, but basically it would be an electronic version of the GP parts manual, but instead of tiny drawings (if your lucky), it would be click-able links to an actual photo or photos of the part or assembly. and those that Jon has drawn could be annotated as well. It would be a "moderated wiki GP manual "so to speak. Whadaya think?

Thanks Michael and Brian.
I've just added that info to the Parts Colours page.
If by chance others can check what's missing and help fill the gaps.......photos always appreciated btw. All photos should be big enough to get the clarity it deserves.
I'm still working on the scans sent, but the last few days has been spent building a home addition for one of my sons, so I've been away.

What ever can be done to help others is always a good idea Brian.
I'm currently holder of the G503.com Wiki keys for the GPW & MB as spammers hit the G503.com MVPA Judging Standard here on the Gee so it was moved to another section of the Gee. ie. JeepDraw so any changes could be made that spammers couldn't get in and destroy it.
That Wiki is here. http://www.jeepdraw.com/wiki.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A Wiki on the GP would be a great advantage for current and future owners...
In three words. Go For It !

Hi Brian,

The pulley guard in the standard jeep is bolted to the sump at the front. The GP doesn't have one of these.

It does however have a fan guard soldered to the radiator top tank

Jon, I am happy to send you detailed photos of my GP that is restored to a high standard with matching engine, chassis and dataplate numbers. Of course, not as good as original factory or period photos though better than no pics at all! Let me know.

Absolutely.!!!!! Send away.........

If you look at the others...... the GPW and the MB profiles, you'll get the idea of what's really needed...basically, parts and finishes....
I steal from Ebay photos, contributors like yourself and occasionally photos I take myself. I think the nearest GP is about 500k's down the track from me, so it makes it a little hard to get pics.

Cheers

Hello All,
Oh those insignificant little details....just kidding

Yes, they can be a real nuisance

Yes Gindi, the GP has a plate bolted to the frame under the fan # GP8240 Apron - radiator splash

More of a water deflector than a pulley shield to keep water from being splashed around by the fan.

Hi Folks, it has been a while since I made this post. Based on Brad's observations it appears both gearbox and transfer case housing were OD. I have a good friend restoring his GP now and he has asked me the same question. Just re checking to see if any additional info has surfaced. I know that Jon has on his Jeepdraw grey for the gearbox housing, OD for the transfer case like the GPW.

Would appreciate any additional feedback.

regards,

John

For what it is worth. I am just now cleaning up my original trf case and tranny on GP9275. Both are OD. I am curious about the fuel bowl. I believe my original has a glass bowl with no internal filter. Is this correct or is brass correct?

Dan,
The fuel bowl is Brass and has a filter composed of about an inch of stacked brass plates.

The bowls were used on other fuel pumo/filter combinations. Maybe Dodge? They were also an AC product used into the 1970s. I do not know the part number though.

Thanks for feedback on the gearbox and transfer case colours. Do you have the original colour for the bell housing?

Re the fuel bowls, as Brian indicated they are usually brass. Mine was brass and developed a hairline crack. I purchased a NOS replacement (same brand an AC) from Brad Gates. This appears to be steel with some form of yellowish plating. It is post war. Similar fuel filters were used on other US vehicles.
