Roy Evan's Bantam 1975

Post by Bill M » Sat Oct 03, 2020 4:25 pm

Hello group,

curious to know if the Roy Evan's Bantam factory runabout is still with us. I recall an article in the early issues of Army Motors on the early prototypers meeting with Roy before he passed in 1976. For those that don't know Roy S Evans was the president of Bantam during the BRC days.
The news article snip is from the The Salem News, Salem, Ohio. Fri. 30 May 1975

There were 3 custom made extended wheelbase fire trucks used at the factory as well as a general service vehicle that was essentially a standard BRC that had a tailgate added. The standard BRC is in possession of the Butler Historical Society and still in Butler, PA. The only known remaining fire truck was purchased from one of Mr. Evans dealerships shortly after his death by a Bantam collector who lived outside of Ft. Meyers, FL. He used it through out the 80's and 90's to repair fences along his farm. It was then parked and set in one of his many garages. The owner passed away earlier this year and the vehicle was purchased by a collector in Texas. I have seen the fire truck in person and it is in very good shape with few modifications and retains nearly all of its original parts. The Jeep will undergo restoration next year and then be added to the impressive collection of the new owner. Hope this helps and is the answer you were after.

Thank you Unibuddy. Nice to know it is still around.
When I find the article I will post the photo showing Roy Evans in the Bantam.
