If you have the January 12, 1950 Fed. Spec. TT C 595, I'll buy it. How much? I have all of the ones after that starting with the first revision, March 1, 1956.

Ooops, miscommunication. :D I stated I had 545A, which is later than your 545. When I made my statement about not being that rare, I was referring to the later 545 series like the A series and later. Mine is Federal Standard 595a dated January 2, 1968 reprinted 1984, superseding March 1, 1956 (and others) with changes 2 through 8. Yes, the one you are talking is more rare. Sorry
Still crazy after all these years.

I know that this is an old thread, however I have actually learned something over the past few years. 1952 - 1954(5) the color will be 23070 (Gilispie) WWII Late Semi Gloss. (I was fortunate to have a 4" x 4" area that the paint had fallen off showing me the original color, unfaded and unsanded that's why the newer coats of paint did not stick. After some trial and error and some research it came clear that the proper shade for my mid year 1952 M38A1 was painted in what they called 2307 back then. From 1955 on, it appears that 24087 is probably the right color for the M38A1 Army version.

With a little more study, am positive that you will discover that the M-38A1 and the M-38 factory applied OD paint was 2430, a semi gloss OD Color and that the 24087 rust inhibiting semigloss was used on repaints.
