Has anyone done the conversion to saginaw manual steering and found it be truly better than just rebuilding/replacing all the stock components?

A correctly installed Saginaw unit is a different as night and day. 100 % improvement. The Early CJ5 Page is the place to discuss the Saginaw swap.

Thanks, I will check it out. I spoke with Advance Adapters today, they provide all the required parts and a saginaw box. Have you had any experience with them?

They are a good vendor. Any CJ from 1972 thru about 1984 (including Postal or DJ's that were left hand drive) can be a donor for the steering box.

Here's the Early CJ5 site I referred to earlier.

early CJ-5 a great site! Also check out Herm the Overdrive guy who makes a reverse Saginaw box setup. Uses a Ford van (I think) box but it all mounts behind the grill so the jeep doesn't show that it's modifed so much.
