Starting Over With A Clarification

Hello Folks.
I've been an avid member of the g741 web-site for a number of years and own a 1952 M-37 & M101 trailer we take to parades and Veteran & Military related events. I did not serve our Country by joining the Military but my Father served his entire adult life. My humble restoration is in his memory and honor. It is also to "Thank" all the Veterans who have served and serve now.
Our latest project is a 1948 Willys CJ2A that had sat for over 12 years along the Mississippi river undergoing several floods and literally rotting into the ground. The previous owner had install a "Pinto" motor and disguarded the original engine. I am fully aware the little Jeep is not former Military stock but as per my wife Lori's request we painted the Jeep O/D only to find a few "purists" disapprove. For this I'm sorry. (not really, as it sure makes the little kids smile when they crawl all over it)
I'm a truckdriver not a mechanic and certainly not a historian. Again, I simply want the majority of people that drive past our home on a daily basses to smile and remember. Willys was a part of our Military history even though my little CJ2A didn't join the Army, it serves now in it's new life. It's dutys are simple. Make people smile.
I was a bit taken back by a few comments I received when I first joined this group and to be honest I was going to remove all my posts and un-join the group. Then I decided I was totally wrong in my thinking as every free American has the right to speak their mind and is entitled to their opinion! It is still a free Country, for how much longer I do not know.
Now, with this being said I'm starting over. I'll need some help with my Jeep and yesterday we bought a trailer to pull behind the Willys. I know it's not the right trailer for our rig but the price was right and I had the cash. It home and it's ours. Going to try and add a few pictures. Again, I'm a truckdriver not a computer programmer!

My 1950 (as per registration) CJ2A will be painted OD if life ever let's me come around with the restoration. I also have an M37 and an M152 who will undergo a resto-mod, at best. I am in awe whenever a member of the G can litteraly identify a WWII manufacturing date from lookingonly at a partial picture of a vehicle. And I salute the G members who have extensive knowledge of the vehicles we talk about in these pages. Their insight is allways a pleasure to read. But I certainly wish there is still room for collectors like you, and me. I add that I have met very nice folks through the G and traveled to neighboring New York State and province of Ontario to meet them. Please keep posting, Tim. Daniel

I will stick around. Last few months have been a bit stressful and I guess I've been a little "thin-skinned".
We have the proper wheels and tires, just need to paint the rims. Still trucking so shop time is limited.

Yours is M416, much later than any Willys proper jeeps, they were Kaiser Jeep by then.
Usually towed behind M151s in the service.
They have their own following too.

Yes it is your jeep!
My suggestion would be restore as a 2A, and Paint it OD with markings and enjoy.

Not trying to start another storm, but OD was added to the official CJ2A color offering sometime in 1946 or ’47. It is unlikely that this color was offered for sale in the USA, but details of this are a little sketchy.

I haven’t seen any documentation that would have put limits on the sale of this color in the US. So, if you really wanted it, I’ll bet you could have gotten it.

The 503 is a great web site. There are truly brilliant historians here. That said, there are a number of other CJ specific forums available to you. I’ve never seen anyone offer harsh opinions, at the CJ-2A Page, regarding color authenticity. I think this is true because, in my humble opinion, the 2A, 3A, 3B, CJ5 were the most modified platform in the history of the motorized vehicle.

On your trailer...the M416 looks right at home behind any flat fender. My opinion... It matches the Willys fender better than the Bantam! :D

No storm & no worrys!
Our M-37 takes priority, the little Jeep was simply a mercy purchase.
Didn't want it going to scrap. It will most likely never be restored, just preserved as is for a while.
The next Guy to fall in love with her can restore it. I'll just take care of it till then.
We did add a m416 trailer to the collection this week. What the heck, another orphan in the family.

Hello Crew.
Please pardon my absence. Was a long cold winter on the road and seems like some of my projects have been neglected.
I did manage to find all the parts I needed to put the M416 wagon back together, now just waiting on the weather to break.
Don't like to paint in the shop. (might have to, ya just never know) Anyway, had the "fleet" out a while back.
Hope you enjoy the shot. By the way, note the proper wheels & tires back on the Jeep.

Another quick clarification!
The old 4-wheeler shown in the picture is another orphan. It is by no means Military.
It does not run at this time but serves it post by helping display the 'troop sign" that was constructed by a local Veteran.
The sign has been handed down to several Folks and is now in my temporary custody.
We rebuilt the sign & built the little trailer to display it on. It's only purpose is to make Folks remember.
