f head camshaft

Post by Mike Pratola » Tue Feb 08, 2011 7:19 pm

Has any one tried- or ever heard of- a different cam profile in an F head ? Just thinking out loud here, but seems like there should be a profile that would give more mid and top end with a slight sacrifice in low end that shouldn't be that noticeable given the abundant amount it has along with the huge amount of flywheel. Not looking to make a hot rod here, just looking to cruise comfortably in overdrive with a little left in the pedal. A little more cam, unshrowd the valves a bit, make sure the ignition curve and jetting is correct, should pick up a few ponies without sacrificing driveability or reliability. Anyone been there ?

Vic Hickey Enterprises, Hooker, Darlan, Burns, Chuchua and others were there 40 years ago.

Here's a few leads on Willys 134 performance:

Very cool stuff, thanks for posting that. Not much mentioned about cam grinds, though. There is an older car collector here in town who used to race dirt trackers in the '40's and 50's who told me he used to run Willy's engines, I need to stop by and pick his brain.
