Dear All,

I painted my GPW DOD 12/14/1943 in Navy color Non Specular Blue Gray, and the marking I am painting are from VPB-107 that operated in Natal NAS, northeast of Brasil during WW2 from 1942 till January 1945.

I would like your help to find a aproximated hood number to paint, this jeep do not served in this based, but it was very sucessfull sqaudron against Nazi submarines and the teachers of the Brazilian Air Force Patrol squadrons born during WW2.

Any tip will be appreciated.

Hi Paulo,

Looks like something close to this number may be about right.

U.S.N. 156843---------------------43 GPW # 152215

to perhaps about U.S.N. 175000.

Tom,

Thank you for the information. I forgot the serial number 165420 DOD 12/14/1943, may I use USN 175420, with the initial digits you suggested and the last digits of the serial number.

What do you think?

Best wishes

My thinking the correct number is: 75433 instead of 79433

Tom,

Thank you, it was a long struggle to have the jeep in that conditions. But I have to thank two close friends here in Brasil they know almost everything about GPWs and MBs, and each one have a GPW with the best restorations I ever seen.

After I finished the marks painting I will put more pictures here.

Thanks again and best wishes

Dont know if it helps or is of interest but when i bought my MB it came with a few navy grey parts including MB steering wheel and GPW hood on it, under the paint the original markings on that hood was USN 156029. I am building a GPW out of parts so will use this hood on it. Does anyone know what they number tells of the Navy GPW the hood came off.
Id rather walk than not drive a Jeep
