Re: CJV-35/U 10099 - USMC Jeep Rescue !!
Hello Bob,
Thanks, I am excited to have this jeep, even though pretty rough, it can certainly be restored and saved !
I look forward to restoring this jeep, once I get a few other vehicles restored, but I will also do a little on this jeep as I can squeeze it in
I just bought 2 of your books from Walck's , the CJV-35 U book, and the CJ3-A book as well.
These will make great reference books for my library, thanks for taking the time to write and publish them !!
I will send this Jeep's info to the data base on the CJ3A page listing the known examples of these jeeps.
Best Regards,
Ray

Hello,
This jeep has a nice MB engine that was put in at some point .
The original engine had a Carter YS 637S carb.
This MB engine has a postwar Carter from a CJ2a I would imagine with the larger list of patent numbers.
Best Regards,
Ray

You are very lucky to have the original generator and voltage regulator. If you get a chance can you post the numbers on the tags of these units?

Hello Bob,
I got some pictures and numbers, but it is a little hard as the hood only goes up about 16 inches
Rusted hinge and hood.
But here is what I have found :
The 6 Volt, 40 Amp, Auto-Lite Generator, is model number : GEG-5006 AU I can't quite make out the serial number, but looks like :
1E019645
The 6 Volt Voltage Regulator is an Auto-Lite, with model number : VRY-4302-AU
Serial number : 3E000452
Best Regards,
Ray

Any progress? I havent done much with mine other than get the grill, headlights etc restored while they were off for the clutch job.
Dont ever give up! I was thinking for a while that I will never find the Scintilla distributor that goes in these unique jeeps. But, I was walking around a meet a few months ago and there was a seller site with ho one around. I poked around and I couldn't believe my eyes. A NOS distributor with the tags on it, even NOS wires with plastic caps over the ends. The paint was bad due to years of laying around but everything else including the rubber on the wires was like new. I took it apart and repainted it, now its in my trophy case, LOL.
I imagine the distributor is worth more than I paid for the Jeep..
Motto: Just keep looking~
