Radio Jeep in the movies?

I was watching “Bad day at Black Rock” starring Spencer Tracy today and there was an MB featured prominently in it. I’m no expert but I do own a NOM-12 and if I’m not mistaken that Jeep is also a NOM-12 or an MZ1 or MZ2. I’m basing that on what I see on the windshield. I strained my eyes throughout the film looking for other features but found none.
What do others think?
Sad part was I think the jeep went over a cliff in the end.

Well I’m surprised no radio Jeep expert can comment. Here is a closer view of the windshield. Nothing there indicates this may have been a radio Jeep? Aren’t those 6 little bolts indicative of what held the antenna sticks?

damar2yxr:

If those are footman loops across the inside of the windshield panel, 3 across the top and 3 across the bottom for straps on the radio antenna bag, then the windshield most likely came from a radio jeep. But radio jeeps did not have grab handles just rear of the driver entryway, and there is no hole underneath the grab handle for the radio antenna wire nor any screws to install the radio antenna mast bracket. So while the jeep is not a radio jeep, its windshield most likely came from a radio jeep.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting where WW2 jeeps show up in the movies.

I've seen my Dad watching this film back when I was young.

I'm afraid I don't have much to add to Fred's comments...

They may have wanted a jeep w/o the rifle holder brackets and found a radio jeep windshield frame but I detect a manual wiper, no Dyneto wiper or loom. There are no hooks or rings... Radio jeeps have a whole lot of unique features and this one lacks them.
