Can you take a photo of the data plate that is just to right of the parking brake handle?

Re: 1951 CJ V35/U
Inwillbtake some of the engine bay as well as underneath.
When I originally was getting the jeep, my intent was to do the typical thing...lift and so forth but now that I have realized that this jeep is an actual piece of history my intentions have changed. I just dont think i have the time nor resources to take on this type of project.
I plan on getting it running to see what kind of shape everything is in mechanically but other than that I'm kind of at a loss..
Suggestions welcomed.

Thank you for the information. Do you know if there is a detailed color coded schematic or at least something with the gauge wires used? I will keep searching...Bob W wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 6:44 amWhat is the serial number of your CJ-V35? I have 10588. Email photos to me and I can post them for you. 52cj3a@gmail.com
The wiring is very similar to a CJ-3A so that would be a good starting point http://www.cj3a.info/tech/Elecpart.html

Re: 1951 CJ V35/U
Nothing that I know of, until today. I've been meaning to write up a detailed description of the V-35 wiring - but just haven't found the time. So I just posted the wiring diagram and a crude drawing of the wiring showing the wire colors, lengths, covering and clip locations here.....maverick600 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 8:36 amThank you for the information. Originally it was 6 volt - but the alternator indicates that it has been converted to 12 volts.

Hello Maverick 600 ,
Your jeep looks to be in great shape.
The engine may be pre-war from a Willys Americar.
I am glad you recognized the historical aspect of this jeep !
Many others don't, and have really "assaulted" historical military jeeps, losing from them all the historical aspects.
I would suggest that you may want to put it up for sale her on the G,
so someone with a radio jeep passion may
be interested in buying it from you.
I would not modify it or lift it .
There are plenty of other jeeps that you can customize like that, like a CJ2a or others.
But this jeep has survived intact for many moons, and very likely someone would be interested in it.
They could track down the radios, and other parts needed to restore it as it deserves.
Good Luck with your plans !!
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: 1951 CJ V35/U
Of great interest to me is that radio ID tag on the Dash, it appears to be the same tag that appears on the dash of the V35 in the Museum in Rotterdam Netherlands. It indicates that the radio set was the FM SCR 508 series using the BC-604/603 type radios. This would have been a Type 5 installation. Those radios are available and if one can find the waterproof box the radio installation is easier than a Type 6. Can you look and see if there is any antenna cable still in the left rear of the tub at the rear most part of the fender? If there is what is the diameter of the wire. Does it come up through a hole in inside the tub on top of the fender? That Tag is interesting in that it lists a pre-V35 MZ jeep as the truck not a V35. I assume the tag was part of a radio kit slated for an earlier jeep but was installed instead in the V35. I have no doubt the radio tag is original to the Jeep. Very cool find and very historically significant. While radio Jeeps are very hard to restore, the satisfaction is high when done. So glad you shared this.

All of the factory manuals for this are available for sale, and will give you much of the detail you need to work on this. Sorry i am late to the party on this. I dont check the forum all the time.

Re: 1951 CJ V35/U
Mike... does any wiring diagram exist like the one Bob W. made a sketch of with the length, size and color/markings of the wire insulation?
Does someone like Vintage wiring of Maine make a harness for the V-35/U?
I wondered where you were!

I think Vintage Wiring makes a repro V-35 harness.

Re: 1951 CJ V35/U
The manuals have some wiring info, but truthfully the wiring is really pretty simple. I do not possess a complete wiring diagram for the jeep itself. I would look for a 3a service book and you may get 90% from that. Vintage wiring sells a CJ3A wiring harness that is basically correct. I have used two of them and made slight modifications to be correct for the V35, i do not know that they make a specific harness for the V35 anymore. But they may. They do make the correct battery cables. I really hope you decide to save this Jeep.

No sir, there is not an antenna wire in there. Just a block where the wiring attaches for the brake lights.h8pvmnt wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 11:05 amOf great interest to me is that radio ID tag on the Dash, it appears to be the same tag that appears on the dash of the V35 in the Museum in Rotterdam Netherlands.
