CJ-V35/U Photo?

Post by Bill M » Mon Jul 01, 2024 11:15 am

I found this while searching online. Looks like combat rims, pressed steel pintle hook and Willys tailgate. The written description is vague.
Is it a CJ-V35/U?

Don't think so.
According to Bob Westerman's most excellent book about them, Willys delivered all 1000 CJ-V35/U jeeps during May-June 1950.

Could be mistaken, but the windshield on the jeep in the photo looks MB-GPW like (not CJ-V35/U).
Photo's in Bob's book show CJ-V35/U windshield like CJ-3A or M38.

The CJ-V35/U was fitted with a large radio set for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
Don't see any evidence of radio in the photo.
Don't know if any were issued to foreign governments either.

Yes, the windscreen looks like what you stated so this must be another variant of the CJ. The rims look like combats but it is hard to tell.
The CJ-V35U did find it's way to Holland where some are in private hands. I have seen the number 6 quoted on the CJ3B site.
