CJV-35

Post by Utah GPW » Thu May 24, 2018 1:20 pm

I am writing for a friend of mine with questions about a Jeep that he is currently restoring. The plate on the Firewall reads, CJV-35, 10345. The first plate on the Dash reads V-35/U, Ser U, For General Radio Use, Willys Overland, Manufactured for Navy Dept.- Bureau of Ships, Contract N8552660. There are also Two Deep Water Fording Plates. The engine Generator Serial reads GEG5006AU,6Volts 40 amps. There is a Pulley on the Rear of the Transfer Case, and a Generator Mount between the seats. The Front Bumper has been changed, but there are still Two Rams Horn Hooks on the Frame Horns. Also there are Two Lifting Rings on the rear of Frame behind the Bumperettes. Any information would be helpful. Sincerely Ed S.

There are those here much more knowledgeable than I on the V-35/U, but I think it is pretty good condition.

There is a lot right and some wrong on it... I don't think I have seen that windshield modification before and cannot remember it having a heater but most of the other items are common issues thru the years. Sucks to be missing the PTO idler arm.

Those are combat wheels, correct?

So, Ed, what level of restoration is your friend looking for?

Great job pulling up the photos, Farrell!

He is not restoring it,but simply fixing it up as a driver for the son of the original owner. It has been in the same family for many years. The son told him that his Dad purchased it from the Forest Service. Again Thank You very much Farrell for posting the photos. Ed
