Re: DC-3 C-47
Back in 1978 to about 1980, there was one in Florence SC, sitting on top of a huge pile of stoves, sheet metal, and scrap...you could see from I-95. Killed me, but being a young Marine, could not save it.

Re: DC-3 C-47
A number of years ago I occasionally stopped in at the Vichy Missouri Airport for fuel and/or a rest stop for the Wife. For a number of years there were 5 DC-3's parked out on the periphery. Then one was pulled out and a restoration was done back to a flying condition.
Been awhile but worth giving them a call to see if any of the other 4 are still there.

Wow it looks like 3 of them setting there. Just south of the runway touchdown approach close to a cemetery. looks like they have been there awhile.

Joe and Mikey McBryan at Buffalo Air would probably sell you one. They have tons of airframes to keep their fleet flying. Since you are just looking for a static one, I bet they would sell you a lot of parts that are non-airworthy for pretty cheap.
Your only competition is Basler as they are buying them up for conversion to their awesome lengthened turboprop version

Cool. Looks like the 4th one is next to the hangar in much better condition. But still not airworthy. Missing the horizontal elevator. Could be getting rebuilt as part of a restorationrjbeamer wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:44 pmWow it looks like 3 of them setting there. According to the airport manager all of the DC-3's that were at the Vichy airport are gone. Last one left about 6 months ago. The search continues.

Mark Clark has a DC-3 for sale, but it's a flyer. Current ask on it is 275K, I think. I know of an R4D that might be for sale close to me. Hans Lauridsen has his DC-3, N243DC up for sale too. He's asking 125K for it.

Re: DC-3 C-47
I recall a long time ago there was a military vechicle website that had a couple fuselages and I believe one of them a year or two ago was purchased for a project at Camp Toccoa at Currahee. https://www.camptoccoaatcurrahee.org/c-47-project
Maybe you can reach out to them, see where they purchased from, and find out if another is still available.

One has been sitting for years in Sonoma, CA at Sonoma Valley Airport. I hear it's actually a DST = Douglas Sleeper Transport. I don't know who owns it but the airport owner is Chris and one of his companies, Vintage Aircraft Company, is at 707-938-2444. He can be hard to reach but manager Sheryl should answer. Tell them I sent you.
