P-40N Factory Two Seater and a Ford GPW Jeep

Post by John Neuenburg » Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:05 pm

Thought you all might like to see a picture of a 1943 Ford GPW and a P-40N, taken at Sonoma Valley Airport last week. Chris, the owner of the airport and airplane, closed it on Sunday morning for a cars & coffee style free display. Cars, trucks, military vehicles, and vintage airplanes. There are quite a few of all those things based here. Great cross-promotion of hobbies. They even did some aerobatics with P-40, a P-51, and PT-26. Owner also runs the warbird ride company based here. More pix over on the MVCC club forum.

This is a factory two seat fighter and it had three kills in the Pacific. The former pilot was found a number of years ago and he visited, and Chris took him for a ride. Imagine that! I hear he had a spring in his step when he got out of it.

I wonder if the P-40 had dual controls ??
The former pilot maybe got in a little stick & rudder time ???
That would have really made hid day !!
