Re: Avenger Soft Crash Landing
Plane looks OK.
Next issue is to not do more damage than the landing while retrieving the plane from the water.
Then there is the water.
Salt Water !!

Re: Avenger Soft Crash Landing
So do I!
It's really unfortunate they ran into bureaucratic resistance to float it to calm water and retrieve it by a vertical lift. Can't' imagine how much the airframe must have been stressed by dragging it out of the surf...totally destroyed the bomb bay doors and who knows what else on the underside. Looks like they damaged the aft fuselage by wrapping straps around it as well. Completely unavoidable and I'm sure, despite the water intrusion, is going to add a lot of extra time, effort and money to restoring it to a flight-worthy status. At least it wasn't as catastrophic as the PBY recovery several years back when they were filming the "USS Indianapolis".

This is what is written under the video posted in the first post:
COCOA BEACH, Florida -- Article dated from April 18th, 2021.
A restored World War II dive bomber made an emergency landing at a beach in Florida.
The Air Force's Thunderbirds headlined the Cocoa Beach Air Show Saturday when the TBM Avenger's engine cut out.
The pilot was the only one on board.
He managed to bring the plane down without getting hurt.
The plane returned to flight just last year after an extensive rehab.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating why the engine malfunctioned.
