WTB B-17 piece

Post by D_Conrad » Sun Nov 10, 2019 6:37 am

Kind of an odd request, I am looking for a piece of a B-17. I have been meeting with several crew members and pilots for B-17 bombers and would love to have a piece of the aircraft which i could have each of them sign. I dont care what portion of the aircraft it's from. Thank you.

Just a suggestion.I would look around(ebay, etc) for one of the bright yellow oxygen tanks. It's not to big or to small to make an impressive display. It is also rank neutral, everybody used it.Plenty of surface area to sign.
Good luck!

Thank you for your suggestion, I'll look into that for sure, were they aircraft specific? Or were the same models used on all bombers?

Looks like they were used on all bombers. It's a good backup idea but for now I'd like to find a piece specifically from a B-17. Thank you for your responce I really appreciate it.

Thank you for your reply. I'll definitely keep that in mind but would prefer something with more area to have them sign. Hoping to donate it to the 390th memorial museum in my city.

Dan.
Just a thought. Check with the EAA museum or others that maybe restoring or have restored a B-17. They may find a panel that you could purchase or trade for a donation. The museum you are donating to may have better luck, museum to museum, getting a part. This way they know it is not going up on ebay.
once again,good luck.
