THE B-29, IT SPOKE SOFTLY AND CARRIED A BIG STICK

Post by Joe Gopan » Mon Aug 06, 2018 2:57 pm

Our family business was at the Main Gate to the 40's-50's DOW AFB, home of the 506th ARS which had KB-29P's. The end of the main runway was only a few hundred feet to one side of our business and the big picture window in our office treated us to everyday air shows.
The B-29 for all it's size and power was the quietest sounding 4 engine (w/recips) aircraft I ever heard.
It spoke softly and carried a big stick.
