SHERMAN CHASSIS & PARTS

Post by bogiejoe » Thu Feb 09, 2023 5:29 pm

DESCRIPTION OF MY SHERMAN TANK and PARTS

I will be selling what I have in the next year.

What I have is the bottom of a Sherman Tank. The plate in the Driver's Compartment says M4A3 1943. The Sherman was cut off about 6 inches above the track. The guy I bought it from used it to skid logs. It has no super structure or turret, but it has the Driver's compartment, Transmission, VVSS Suspension, Tracks and Engine compartment.

I don't think the engine is original as it is a Cummins Diesel. The engine is not in good shape, so I bought another Cummins that I was going to try to put in the Sherman.
(I don’t know if the mounting bolts are the same on both engines, but I was told that there is a good chance that it will fit.) This second engine needs some repair. They broke the fuel pump off in shipping it to me, but I still have the pump. I'm sure it can be repaired.

The tracks have "Duckbills inside and outside of the tracks, which makes it 24 inches wide! It looks really "mean” from the front! (If someone had the superstructure and looking for a chassis, it would be great!)

I have a ton of extra parts! (4 periscope housings) (5 upper and lower periscope bases) (7 periscope doors) (7 periscopes) (7 Brow Pads)
(2 fixed periscope holders - they went between the driver’s hatches) (1 Ball Mount for the front machine gun) (Lots of ammo cans) (The front Siren) (Gunners Seat) (2 turret seat assemblies) (Commanders and Gun Loaders Seat) (3 bottom seat cushions for driver's seat frames - 2 are reproductions)
(I might keep 2 of the 3 cushions) (M-20 Azimuth Indicator) (2 shovels) (Gas cans) (3-inch Track adjusting wrench) (Pick Mattock Blade) (Front Travel Lock for supporting the main gun - I believe it is for a 76mm) (Turret cradle receptacle) (Rear Bustle 50 Cal Stowage Pintle) (Cranking Lever for the engine) (Commander Vain Sight) (2 Track Jacks) (23 extra Duckbills) (5 track Connectors) (35 Wedge Bolts) (G104 Fire Extinguisher Box)
(M-7 50 caliber Linker-Delinker Machine) (A4 Machine Gun Barrel) (2 G104 Tank Horseshoe Clevises with pins) (M9 Elevation Quadrant)
(2 Instrument Panels - they need restoring) (Sherman Ventilator) (22 Sand Shirt Supports) (M70 Tank Telescope) (Brass catching Bag for Ball Mount) (Sherman Antenna with Canvas Case) (CS-90 Signal Flag Set) (HS-30 Headset) (G104 Canvas Bow Cover) (4 Gas Cap Covers) (3 Sherman Headlights) (2 Headlight Harnesses) (Both Left and Right Taillights) (3 Taillight Harnesses) (2 Hatch Handles) (Lots of Footman Loops) (199 - 50 cal. Bullets) (148 - 50 caliber brass casings) (BC-603 Tank Radio Receiver) (BC-604 Tank Radio Transmitter) (Extra Radio Tubes - all are vintage WW2 tubes that work) (5 Mussette Bags) (Sherman Spotlight and Arm) (2 Sherman steering grips - NOS)
Plus other stuff!

I have (2) Tanker Helmets plus a few Tanker overalls, but I am keeping those!

I was going to sell the Sherman Tank Chassis separately from the parts, but maybe just sell all as a package deal, if possible. Shipping would be up to whoever would purchase it! If anyone has a ballpark idea of what it might be worth, give me your thoughts, Thank you, Doug.

"DESCRIPTION OF MY SHERMAN TANK and PARTS

So it will be for sale in 2024? Are you trying to get a market value to post it for sale next year, if so pictures would help determine a value. If enough is left it could possibly be rebuilt, if very little is left its value would be in parts
