Needed:The base of a Zenith 29 Carb

Post by rogerse » Sun Nov 20, 2022 4:52 am

Does anyone have a base they would like to sell? I dropped my Zenith 29 down draft and the base cracked. I tried to braze it but the casting is mad at me and continued to crack back out.

I live in Ohio... Beneath a cloud of profanity.

I’m
Thinking you may need to buy an entire new carb. I see zenith “tops” for sale all
The time but rarely just a base.

I see where There was a NOS one for sale by Warren D. In Louisiana for $450 on FB.

I *think* I have an extra NOS unit as well. I need to check

If Steve can't find one, could you post a pic or some specs. I may have picked one up on ebay for a friends track while I was in Afghanistan years ago and had it shipped only to sit around. I'd need to see one to recognize it.

PS: Ok, same as Dodge 3/4T truck. so i have to ponder can the governor assembly (below photo, bottom right) be converted to the carbs base throttle assembly by swapping linkages. Just a thought.

This is a photo of the bottom... It is held on with four bolts to the base of the carburetor and I have all the hardware...

Well Steve has the base, but now I do wonder if you could just convert the governor base to a throttle assembly, it too has four top holes as the illustration shows.
Might be a solution for someone else to try in the future.
